Kothagudem: A tense moment unfolded in the Aswaraopet constituency when MLA Jare Adinarayana chose to skip a key government event. The Congress MLA, representing a tribal area, felt disrespected after being left out of a major development program.
On Tuesday, a foundation stone ceremony was scheduled in Dammapet mandal for a new 10-kilometer road project. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao was also expected to attend the event alongside Adinarayana.
However, the situation changed suddenly.
On Monday evening, Adinarayana’s team had issued a public statement announcing his participation. But without informing him, Roads and Buildings (R&B) officials went ahead and arranged the event on their own. The MLA only learned about the new plan afterward.
Upset by the move, Adinarayana confronted the officials in front of Minister Tummala. He questioned why he hadn’t been informed and reminded them that an MLA must be included in government projects within his constituency. He accused the officials of ignoring protocol and disrespecting his position.
Though Adinarayana acknowledged his respect for Minister Tummala, he made it clear that he was hurt by the officials’ actions. When asked to break a coconut during the ceremony — a traditional ritual — he refused, stating he had no role in an event he wasn’t invited to plan.
The situation grew tense until Minister Tummala stepped in. He questioned the R&B department on why they had failed to inform the local MLA. After several rounds of persuasion, the minister finally convinced Adinarayana to take part in the event, helping to ease the conflict.
This incident highlights the growing friction between elected leaders and government departments over communication and protocol in Telangana’s tribal regions.
