Khammam (Nelakondapalli):
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy took a strong stand against former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) during a public meeting on the Bhu Bharati Act held in Surdepalli village, located in Nelakondapalli mandal, Khammam district.
Speaking at the event on Tuesday, the minister responded to KCR’s recent remarks made in Warangal. He questioned KCR’s criticism of the government’s welfare programs. “Are you upset because the poor are now eating affordable rice? Or because they’re finally getting homes through the Indiramma housing scheme? Or is it because farmers are receiving the loan waivers they were promised?” he asked.
Reddy suggested that KCR’s anger stems from the success of welfare efforts by the current Congress-led government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. According to him, these programs are bringing real change, especially for the underprivileged.
He also criticized the previous government’s handling of the Dharani portal, a land record system introduced during KCR’s tenure. “Dharani was in place for over three years without proper planning. It caused confusion and hardship. The people didn’t benefit at all,” Reddy stated.
In contrast, he praised the newly introduced Bhu Bharati Act, calling it a well-researched and people-friendly reform. He explained that the Act was drafted after studying revenue laws from 18 different states. Experts, retired officials, and experienced collectors contributed to its development.
“This is not just another policy,” the minister emphasized. “The Bhu Bharati Act is a thoughtful reform. It corrects past mistakes and protects the rights of ordinary citizens.”
With these reforms, the government aims to bring transparency and fairness to land administration while ensuring that the rural poor get the justice they deserve.
