The Telangana United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) in Hyderabad is asking the government to promote secondary grade teachers (SGTs) with DEd and BEd qualifications as headmasters of primary schools based on their seniority. TSUTF president K Jangaiah and general secretary Chava Ravi made this request in a representation to the Education Department authorities, urging them to amend GOs 11 and 12 to allow for such promotions.
They also called for the government to fulfill a promise made by former CM K Chandrashekar Rao to increase the number of primary school headmaster posts to 10,000 and to sanction 5,571 PS HM posts. The leaders pointed out that SGT teachers can be promoted in multiple subjects based on seniority, leading to some SGTs being denied promotions and missing out on opportunities.
In response to this issue, TSUTF is asking for the promotion of one SGT in only one subject to make way for promotions for other senior SGTs. This change would help ensure fair opportunities for all eligible teachers.
