Doctors from the Telangana Teaching Government Doctors’ Association (TTGDA) have decided to join the Joint Action Committee of various Telangana employees, officers, teachers, workers, and retirees. This decision was made because many of the JAC’s demands align with those of the TTGDA, but there are a few specific points that the doctors feel are important to highlight.
One of the main concerns raised by TTGDA is the issue of general transfers that have been pending since 2013. In 2018, transfers were not given priority to long-standing employees, which was a significant change from the previous system where they were top priority until 2011. Additionally, the percentage of transfers for Health department employees was reduced from 40 to 20 in 2018, causing many doctors to get stuck in the process at peripheral medical colleges.
The TTGDA representatives are advocating for general transfers without any restrictions, preferably with at least 50% reserved for long-standing employees. They are also pointing out that doctors working in peripheral medical colleges outside of Hyderabad are facing a 20% loss in hardship allowance compared to their colleagues in Hyderabad.
Furthermore, the doctors are expressing their full support for demands related to the employee health scheme and all pending DAs. They are also calling for promotions to be based solely on counselling processes in all job positions.
