Nagar Kurnool: Chenchu Couple Freed from Forced Labor

Two members of a Chenchu couple from Gumpan Palli village in Achampet Mandal, Nagar Kurnool district, were rescued after being trapped in forced labor for three years. The couple had been working under harsh conditions in agricultural fields after borrowing Rs. 15,000 from a man in Chenchupalguda Tanda.

The issue came to light when a social media post highlighted their plight, prompting the High Court to take notice. Authorities conducted an investigation, and a case was filed on November 13. By the next day, November 14, the couple was freed from their situation.

To support the couple, District Principal Judge Rajesh Babu, Sabitha Nagar Kurnool, and Achampet Civil Court Judge Vijay Kumar, along with government officials, provided compensation. The couple was handed a demand draft (DD) of Rs. 60,000 to help them rebuild their lives.
