Ukraine Contemplating Revision of Counter-Offensive Strategy Against Russia Following US Intelligence Disclosure

On Monday, Russian forces continued their attacks on eastern Ukrainian cities, while Ukrainian officials downplayed reports that Kyiv was changing its plans for a counter-offensive due to leaked classified US documents. The Russians targeted Ukrainian positions in Bakhmut in the Donetsk region and other cities and towns with air strikes and artillery barrages. The head of the Moscow-controlled part of Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, claimed that Russian forces held 75% of the city. Moscow’s military also targeted the city of Avdiivka, which has been left in ruins. Despite the ongoing battles, Ukrainian presidential aide Mykhailo Podolyak said that Kyiv’s strategic plans remained unchanged. Meanwhile, US officials are trying to trace the source of the leak of dozens of secret documents, which detail topics including information on the Ukraine conflict. Some national security experts and US officials suspect that the leaker could be American but have not ruled out pro-Russian actors.
