The Ukraine Deputy Foreign Minister, Emine Dzhaparova, apologized for an image posted by the country’s defense ministry that caused outrage on social media. The image was criticized for resembling the Hindu deity Kali. Dzhaparova said Ukraine “regrets” the depiction of goddess Kali in a “distorted manner”. She added that Ukraine respects unique Indian culture and highly appreciates support from India. The controversial image, which showed a woman in an upskirt pose with the caption “Work of art”, was removed by the defense ministry. Many Indian Twitter users sought External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s intervention.

Earlier this month, Dzhaparova visited India and said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ukraine. She also said India is a global leader and can help in promoting peace.
