The State of Telangana suffered financially because the previous BRS government did not have good relations with the Modi government at the Centre. This was stated by Endowments Minister Konda Surekha during a discussion on the state’s finances in the Assembly.

Surekha pointed out that the previous government’s main focus was on demolishing old structures and building new ones. She mentioned the Warangal Central Jail, which was demolished and replaced with a hospital. She also mentioned the Secretariat, which was demolished and rebuilt. She criticized the government for not delivering on its promise of providing 100 double-bedroom houses in every constituency.

Surekha further criticized BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao for not having productive discussions with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy or maintaining good relations with the Modi government. She stated that if good relations had been maintained, the State would have received more funds.

In response, BRS member T Harish Rao defended the government’s actions and highlighted the development in the state, citing an increase in workers from other states coming to Telangana for employment.
