University of Hyderabad has showcased its strong academic and research capabilities by achieving high positions in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025. This ranking was recently announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The university secured the 18th spot in the university category, 26th overall, 32nd among research institutions, and 70th in the engineering category. These rankings highlight its status as a top center for higher learning and interdisciplinary research in India.
The NIRF evaluates institutions based on five main criteria: Teaching, Learning and Resources; Research and Professional Practice; Graduation Outcome; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception. These factors contribute to the total score and national ranking of each institution.
UoH Vice Chancellor Prof. B J Rao expressed both satisfaction and a need for improvement. He commented, “The University of Hyderabad’s dedication to academic excellence is evident in the NIRF 2025 rankings, but we must strive for even better results.” Prof. Rao highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, research, and inclusivity, and praised the faculty, students, and staff for their hard work.
