Hanamkonda: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched 103 upgraded railway stations across India, including the one in Warangal, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
The renovation work at Warangal Railway Station began on February 24 to handle the growing number of passengers more efficiently. The goal is to modernize the station while honoring the region’s rich heritage.
Several key leaders attended the local event in Warangal, including MP Kadiyam Kavya, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Telangana Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash, Union Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, MLC Baswaraju Saraiah, and various MLAs and MPs.
Speaking at the event, MP Kavya highlighted that the station’s new design reflects the art and architecture of the Kakatiya dynasty. She said the upgrades not only bring modern comforts but also create a culturally vibrant environment for passengers.
According to Kavya, the station now features escalators, a spacious foot overbridge, art installations, and a wide concourse to improve passenger flow and experience. She called the development a proud moment for the people of Warangal.
Meanwhile, she pointed out that only 40% of the renovation work at Kazipet Railway Station has been completed. She urged authorities to speed up the project and open it to the public as soon as possible.
Kavya also requested that Kazipet be transformed into a multi-modal transport hub to better serve commuters. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of quickly finishing the construction of the Fatima Road Over Bridge (ROB) and the Kazipet Bus Stand.
These improvements aim to boost regional connectivity and meet the increasing demands of rail users in Telangana.
