Vijayashanti asserts that BRS should reconsider seat allocation to uphold Women’s Reservation Bill
Text Size: 100%

The Women’s Reservation Bill has been approved by Parliament, but it will take time to be enforced. It will not apply to the upcoming state assembly and Lok Sabha elections. BJP member Vijayashanti has demanded that the BRS party prioritize women in the assembly elections and reconsider the announced candidates. She believes this will increase pressure on other parties to allocate more seats to women. The Women’s Bill will be implemented in 2028 or 2029, but political parties can show sincerity by giving priority representation to women in future elections. In Telangana, BRS has only allocated 6 out of 100 assembly seats to women, which raises doubts about their commitment to women’s reservation. If BRS wants to show sincerity, they should re-evaluate seat allocation. This decision will put pressure on opposition parties and encourage all major parties to allocate more seats to women.
