Vivek starts free helpline to report bonded labor cases

Hyderabad: On World Day Against Human Trafficking 2025, Minister of Labour Vivek Venkat Swamy announced a new initiative by the Telangana Government. A toll-free helpline, 8069434343, is now available for reporting cases of bonded labour directly to the State Labour Department. This measure aims to ensure swift action against such cases.

The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting survivors. He stated that Indiramma houses will be prioritized for those who have escaped bonded labour. Additionally, February 9 will be recognized as Bonded Labour Abolition Day in the state, with various activities planned to raise awareness.

On Wednesday, over 200 survivors from across Telangana gathered at a state conference named “The Way to Freedom.” This event highlighted the urgent need for government intervention and showcased powerful stories from those affected by bonded labour.
