An event for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons took place in Hyderabad. Organized by Prajwala, an anti-trafficking group started by Sunitha Krishnan, the event brought together people from governments, civil society, and local communities.

Held at the KNL Prasad Auditorium in Red Hills, the event highlighted that over 60% of trafficking victims in India are women and children. Many fall prey to commercial sex, forced labor, and domestic work. Traffickers now often use digital platforms for exploitation, making India a source, transit, and destination for trafficking.

Women and Child Welfare Minister D Seethakka praised Prajwala’s efforts against sex trafficking, which include prevention, rescue, and rehabilitation. She stressed the importance of cooperation among government bodies, civil society, and the public to end human trafficking.

These guides aim to help in identifying and supporting victims early at the local level.
