Lionel Messi, a player for Paris Saint-Germain, has been suspended for two weeks for taking an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia. Messi missed practice on Monday due to his promotional trip and was suspended by the French club a day later. He has apologised to PSG and his teammates on Instagram, saying he thought they had the day off. The coach of PSG, Christophe Galtier, stated that the club and Messi will wait until the end of his suspension to discuss how he finishes the season.

Messi’s suspension length has not been confirmed by the club, but French media believe it to be two weeks, meaning he will miss two games. PSG is currently leading Ligue 1 by five points. Messi joined PSG in 2021 after leaving Barcelona due to financial issues and Spanish league regulations. The French club hoped Messi would help them win the Champions League, but they were eliminated in the round of 16 in consecutive seasons.

Messi’s exit from PSG is uncertain, with reports linking him to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, a return to Barcelona, and a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. Some PSG fans are also calling for Neymar to leave the club. However, Galtier believes that fans crossed the line when they protested outside Neymar’s residence this week, stating that private life must remain private. Neymar had season-ending surgery on his right ankle in March.
