Hyderabad faced a technical issue that led the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to return to manual operations. The problem arose from a failure in the automated systems crucial for managing water supply and sewerage services efficiently.
The problem at the State Data Centre disrupted online services. Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy held a Zoom meeting with directors and senior officials to evaluate the situation.
An emergency plan was put in place to ensure the public faced no issues with tanker bookings, deliveries, and Metro Customer Care (MCC) complaints.
Officials were instructed to manually handle tanker bookings and deliveries, carefully documenting all details. A dedicated WhatsApp group was suggested for MCC complaints to ensure prompt action in coordination with managers.
For ongoing issues like contaminated water and sewer overflow, officials were advised to visit affected areas and act swiftly. Collaboration among directors, CGMs, GMs, and filling station managers was emphasized. Special officers and DGMs were tasked to inspect tanker filling stations and monitor the situation closely. The importance of addressing complaints from social media promptly was also highlighted.
