Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, raised concerns about the actions of the Congress-led state government in Hyderabad. He questioned why the government is not taking action to demolish a farmhouse in Janwada that allegedly belongs to former minister KT Rama Rao.
Sanjay Kumar pointed out that the state government, through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HYDRA), claims to be cracking down on illegal constructions. However, he expressed shock at how selectively the rules are being applied. He questioned why HYDRA officials are issuing notices to some educational institutions but seem hesitant to do the same for those linked to MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi. He suggested that the government might be avoiding action because of threats from Owaisi, who has reportedly warned of consequences if HYDRA touches buildings associated with him.
The minister argued that if ponds and government lands are being illegally occupied for the construction of farmhouses and villas, these structures should be demolished. He criticized the government for targeting only a few individuals while leaving others untouched. He urged HYDRA to go after powerful individuals who are breaking the law and to protect the interests of the poor.
Sanjay Kumar also mentioned that Congress leader Revanth Reddy had previously claimed that the Janwada farmhouse was built illegally. He questioned why the government is hesitating to demolish it and demanded answers for the delay.
