Hyderabad: People living in Yakutpura are struggling with poor living conditions. They face issues like bad roads, dirty water, and overflowing sewers. Residents are asking the local government for help.
Visitors to Yakutpura in Hyderabad’s old city see open drains, trash on the streets, and potholes. Water supply is also a problem, with residents receiving black, dirty water.
Amjed Ullah Khan, a social activist and leader of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), highlighted these issues during a walk through Yakutpura. He talked directly with locals about their problems. Abdul Rahman, an MBT leader, and other party members joined him. Residents lined the streets to share their complaints.
The walk covered areas like Dabeerpura Darwaza, Hyder Hotel, Ganga Nagar, Moula Ka Chilla, Sadat Nagar, Murtuza Chaman, Chota Pull, Bada Chandra Nagar, Madina Nagar, and Dhobighat. The roads between Ganga Nagar and Moula Ka Chilla are in terrible shape with big potholes. The widening of a local nala (drain) has been incomplete for six months, causing bad smells and mosquito problems.
The nala work from Dabeerpura Darwaza to Hyder Hotel has been ongoing for nearly 10 years. Despite multiple inaugurations, the area remains full of garbage and potholes, making it hard to drive through.
Residents are receiving dirty water in over 100 homes in Bada Chandra Nagar. They have complained to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) but nothing has changed. They are pleading for clean water.
Amjedullah plans to meet with the HMWSSB Managing Director. He wants the water issue fixed in 10 to 15 working days. If not, he threatens a protest against the water board. He claims that the unhealthy water has made many children sick.
