With the Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh coming up, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are focusing on electoral lists. Leaders from both parties met with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Mukesh Kumar Meena, at the Secretariat in Velagapudi to discuss their concerns.

A delegation from the YSRCP, including Ministers Jogi Ramesh and Merugu Nagarjuna, MLC Lella Appi Reddy, and MLA Malladi Vishnu, filed a complaint against the TDP’s irregularities. They also requested the CEO to verify dual voters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and take necessary action against them.

Jogi Ramesh stated that the TDP and Jana Sena were aware of their impending defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections. He accused them of mudslinging on the YSRCP by claiming that names were being deleted from voters lists. He emphasized that in a democracy, each person should only have one vote.

Nagarjuna revealed that around 16 lakh duplicate votes were identified in the 2018 Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and this information was shared with the CEO. He added that many voters with dual voter cards are planning to vote in Telangana on November 30 and then exercise their right to franchise in Andhra Pradesh. They provided a detailed list of dual voters to the CEO for necessary action.

They filed a complaint against several district collectors with substantial evidence.

Both parties are actively engaging with the CEO to address their concerns regarding electoral lists and alleged irregularities.
