Hyderabad: The Telangana government plans to launch the innovative ‘Rajiv Yuva Vikasam’ scheme on June 2, marking Telangana Formation Day. This initiative aims to help unemployed youth start their own businesses.
Under this scheme, 5 lakh unemployed individuals from marginalized communities will receive financial support in the 2025-2026 financial year. The goal is to provide subsidized capital, enabling these young people to become entrepreneurs and create jobs.
The government has allocated Rs 6,250 crore for this program. Members of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Minority communities will benefit from highly subsidized loans.
Beneficiaries will receive full subsidies on loans up to Rs 50,000 and 90% subsidies on loans up to Rs 1 lakh. Subsidies will also cover 80% of loans up to Rs 2 lakh and 70% for loans up to Rs 4 lakh. The first phase will distribute loans of up to Rs 1 lakh starting Monday.
Officials reported receiving over 16.22 lakh applications from the unemployed. The first 5 lakh beneficiaries have been selected for this year, with 80% from marginalized groups. Additionally, 25% of the spots are reserved for women, and 5% for people with disabilities.
After distributing sanction letters, government-owned employment agencies will conduct entrepreneurship training from June 10 to June 15. Business units will begin operations on June 16, with a deadline to launch by Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka stated that each new business is expected to create an average of 4.4 jobs. With 5 lakh businesses launching, the government anticipates creating 22 lakh new jobs, directly and indirectly, significantly boosting the state’s economy.
“By transforming unemployed youth into business owners, Telangana aims to spark an economic revolution and set a new standard for inclusive development in India,” the Deputy CM remarked.
