Zoo Park hosts celebration for International Day of Forests

The Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad celebrated the International Day of Forests on Friday. As part of the celebration, a large-scale plantation program was organized on the zoo premises.

J. Vasantha, the curator of Nehru Zoological Park, along with team members including deputy curators, assistant curators, deputy range officers, forest section officers, and others, took part in the event. They planted saplings of native Indian plants such as Ficus, Peepal, Jamoon, Juvvi, and Maddi at the children’s park.

Speaking on the occasion, Vasantha highlighted that Nehru Zoological Park is one of the leading zoos in the country. She emphasized the zoo’s role in educating visitors about wildlife and raising awareness about the importance of native Indian plants and animals. She also pointed out the negative effects of invasive species on the Indian ecosystem.
