Hyderabad: Following the Election Commission of India‘s (ECI) orders, C Sudharshan Reddy, the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana, has sent notices to 13 inactive political parties in the state. These parties, registered but unrecognized, have not participated in elections for over six years.
According to the Representation of the People Act, 1951, political parties must engage in elections. The ECI records show these parties have not put forward candidates in recent general, Assembly, or by-elections. This inactivity suggests they are not operating as intended under the Act. Consequently, the ECI plans to remove them from its list of political parties. However, these parties can provide a written explanation, relevant documents, and an affidavit from their president or general secretary by July 11, 2025, before any removal action is taken.
The parties receiving these notices include Telangana Karmika Raithu Rajyam Party, Indian Minorities Political Party, Jago Party, National People’s Congress, Telangana Loksatta Party, Telangana Minorities OBC Rajyam, Yuva Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (Ambedkar-Phule), Telangana Students United For Nation Party, Andhra Pradesh Rashtra Samaikya Samithi Party, Jatiya Mahila Party, Yuva Telangana Party, and Telangana Praja Samithi (Kishore, Rao and Kishan).
