14 Years Later, Alampur to Baliger Road Still Delayed by Politics

Gadwal, Telangana — A major road project linking Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) to Raichur (Karnataka) remains unfinished, even after 14 years. The stretch from Alampur Cross to Baliger, part of a key interstate route, is still incomplete and causing growing frustration among locals.

The road starts at Mittadoddi and ends near Baliger, close to the Telangana–Karnataka border. It was designed to boost travel, trade, and development across the region. But the work has been stuck for over a decade due to political interference, contractor issues, and claims of corruption.

Local residents blame power struggles between political leaders for stalling progress. Disputes over contracts and commissions have slowed the project, despite changes in leadership at both state and district levels.

Several contractors reportedly walked away from the job because of political pressure. The government had to cancel old deals and bring in new contractors, further delaying the project.

Shockingly, only two kilometers of the road remain to be built. Yet, even this small portion has been left untouched due to red tape and continued political gridlock.

People living in border villages across Telangana and Karnataka are angry. They rely on this road for daily travel, business, and access to hospitals. Many are asking how, after two state government changes since Telangana was formed, the road still isn’t done.

Locals are now demanding immediate action. They’re urging the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department to finish the final stretch. They say completing the road would improve safety, boost the local economy, and make life easier for thousands of commuters.

As pressure builds and public voices grow louder, residents hope that officials will finally step up and put an end to a 14-year delay that has left a vital road in limbo.
