    1,460 New CCTV Cameras Installed in Malkajgiri Zone

    Hyderabad: A total of 1,460 new CCTV surveillance cameras were installed and officially launched in the Malkajgiri zone on Friday. These cameras, worth Rs 1.19 crore, were inaugurated by Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu.

    Out of the 1,460 cameras, 410 were set up in 17 residential colonies. These cameras were placed along main roads and busy junctions as part of a community safety program. They also come with a two-year maintenance contract. The remaining 1,050 cameras were installed at 212 temples identified as vulnerable locations, as part of a special safety drive.

    All the cameras are now connected to the Command and Control Centre, where a team of officers will monitor the footage around the clock. With these new installations, the total number of community CCTV cameras in the area has reached 5,260. Additionally, there are 93,061 “Nenu Saitham” cameras installed, bringing the total number of geo-tagged cameras in the zone to 98,321.

    Commissioner Sudheer Babu explained the importance of CCTV cameras in keeping neighborhoods safe. He said that these cameras help prevent crimes, assist in solving cases, and support proactive policing. He noted that many major cases have been successfully solved with the help of CCTV footage.

    He also encouraged community members and colony leaders to take the lead in installing more cameras in their areas. Sudheer Babu emphasized that the presence of CCTV cameras can discourage criminal behavior and help the police keep the area safe. He thanked and honored the community leaders who supported the police in installing the cameras.

    Several other police officials were present at the event, including DCP of Malkajgiri zone PV Padmaja, Additional DCP S. Chakrapani, ACP T. Mahesh Goud, members of the IT cell, and all Station House Officers (SHOs) from the Malkajgiri zone.
