Hyderabad: NV Subhash, the chief spokesperson for the state BJP, criticized the state government, questioning if Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's campaign for ‘Rising Telangana’ truly reflects the reality, as citizens are experiencing a ‘Falling Telangana.’

During a press conference on Monday, Subhash remarked that before the Congress took control, Revanth Reddy, then the PCC president, made several promises to students. He assured them that these promises would be kept once in power. However, many of these commitments remain unfulfilled, causing students to feel betrayed.

Over 600 Gurukul schools are closed, prompting protests from students and parents. The schools’ buildings have been locked by owners due to unpaid rent for ten months. This situation is the responsibility of the state government, which failed to allocate sufficient funds for education. With the future of 7 lakh students at stake, the government needs to pay around Rs 215 crore in rental dues. Notices to vacate have been sent to 63 Gurukul schools.

Subhash also pointed out that employees in the education department are not receiving their salaries, and nearly 1,800 government schools are being shut down. Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi government is working to establish better educational institutions, like Navodaya and Sainik Schools, across India, including in Telangana.

The state’s universities are struggling with poor management of appointments, leaving many positions vacant. This has forced students to seek education outside the state. Promises made by the government to reimburse fees for students in engineering and other professional colleges have not been honored, leading to protests from students and parents.

Thousands of faculty positions in universities remain unfilled, suggesting that the education system is in disarray. These issues have cast doubt on students’ futures. There is an urgent call for the state government to take action, settle dues, reopen Gurukul schools, clear fee reimbursement arrears, and reopen closed government schools.
