Chandampet (Nalgonda): Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy spoke at a public awareness seminar on the Bhu Bharathi Act held in Chandampet Mandal on Monday. He announced that the government is hiring 6,000 surveyors to speed up the resolution of land issues. He also said a new land identification card system called ‘BhuDhaar’, similar to Aadhaar, will be launched soon.
The event was attended by Devarakonda MLA Balu Naik, MLCs Shankar Naik and Nellikanti Satyam, District Collector Ila Tripathi, and SP Sharath Chandra Pawar.
During his speech, the Minister criticized some government officials for not doing their jobs properly. He said the current government is focused on finding real solutions for land problems instead of making empty promises.
He explained that the Bhu Bharathi Act is designed to solve land-related issues in a fair and permanent way. Ponguleti criticized the previous government’s Dharani system, saying it was introduced in secret and only helped a few. He mentioned that people had to pay Rs 1,000 to apply and still had to visit government offices multiple times without getting results.
He promised that such difficulties would not happen under the new system. The Minister said farmers affected by land boundary changes will receive proper land titles. He added that the government is committed to ensuring justice for everyone, not just their supporters.
Ponguleti shared the government’s plan for implementing the new land policy. Four mandals used as pilot areas will receive land pattas (ownership documents) by June 2. Starting May 1, each Assembly constituency will have one mandal where the new system will be tested.
From June 2, MROs (Mandal Revenue Officers) will visit every village to collect land-related applications and solve problems on the spot. The VRO and VRA systems, which help with land administration at the village level, will also be brought back by next month.
The Minister said the Indiramma housing scheme will be expanded in Devarakonda to provide more homes for poor families. He also warned that any government official who fails in their duties will be transferred within 30 minutes.
