The Ministry of Railways introduced the ‘One Station One Product’ (OSOP) scheme to promote local products and create income opportunities for marginalized groups. The concept was announced in the Union budget of 2022-23 and has since gained momentum. On South Central Railway, the OSOP concept was initially introduced at six railway stations for 30 days and has now expanded to 72 stations. The scheme covers four states: Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

In Telangana, 26 railway stations have 29 stalls of one station one product, including handloom sarees, millet-based food products, bamboo crafts, temple deity idols, and local delicacies. Handloom sarees are a traditional textile art in India and are vital for rural economic development. The most famous varieties in Telangana are Gadwal Handlooms Sarees and Narayanapet silk sarees. Millet-based products are encouraged to create domestic and global demand and provide nutritional food.
