The Telangana government has made a plan to ensure there is enough drinking water and irrigation for the state, due to the delayed South West Monsoon and dry weather. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao told the Irrigation department to make sure there is always enough water for crops, and the government will spend as much money as needed to make this happen. The Rythubandhu scheme benefit will be given to farmers from June 26 for the Kharif seasons. A meeting was held to discuss how to supply irrigation water for the upcoming farming season, as dry weather is expected until the first week of July. Officials will stop releasing water for irrigation during the dry season to save water.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the water storage status in the reservoirs under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation scheme. He instructed officials to transfer two tmc of water from Mid Manair reservoir to Ranganayak Sagar and an additional 5 tmc of water to Nizam Sagar through Kondapochamma Sagar in August. If there is a shortage of water, officials will review water reserves in Sriramsagar in August and lift 30 to 35 tmc of water through the Kaleshwaram project as part of the Sriramsagar revival scheme. Mallannasagar reservoir will be filled with an additional 10 tmc of water this year.

Officials will also focus on lifting and storing water for the second crop in reservoirs such as Yellampalli, Sriramsagar, Mid Manair, Lower Manair, Annapurna, Ranganayak Sagar, Mallannasagar, and Kondapochamma Sagar. An operation manual will be created to determine how best to use pumps. To address drinking water needs, the Chief Minister suggested lifting water from Mid Manair to Gouravelli reservoir and instructed authorities to begin canal construction for supplying irrigation water to Gouravelli Ayacut.
