Hyderabad is set to become home to India’s first Physical Intelligence initiative as Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Anumula has directed Analog and Mega Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd. (MEIL) to develop an intelligent traffic signal system powered by artificial intelligence. The system is designed to adapt to real-time traffic congestion and weather conditions, marking a significant step toward transforming the city into a next-generation smart urban center.
During a high-level meeting in Hyderabad, Analog Founder and CEO Alex Kipman and MEIL Managing Director P. Krishna Reddy presented a comprehensive roadmap for the ambitious project. The proposed pilot program aims to integrate multiple functions including traffic signal management, congestion detection, priority routing for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines, identification of utility leaks, power optimization, and the development of Cognitive Cities using advanced sensors, robotics, and continuous AI learning capabilities.
An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Analog and MEIL was formally exchanged in the presence of the Chief Minister. The meeting witnessed the participation of several key government officials including Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and other senior officials from various departments.
The AI-powered traffic management system represents a major technological upgrade for Hyderabad’s infrastructure. The initiative is expected to leverage physical intelligence technology to create a responsive urban ecosystem that can automatically adjust to changing traffic patterns and environmental conditions. The system will use a network of sensors and robotics to continuously monitor and optimize city operations, potentially setting a benchmark for other metropolitan areas across India.
