Hyderabad: Senior officials from the Union Ministry of Education and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) visited Telangana on Wednesday. They met with Professor V Balakrishna Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), to talk about building a strong environment for innovation and start-up support in the state’s colleges and universities.
Dr. Yogesh Brahmankar, Director of Innovation at the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, and Dr. Bheema L Reddy, Manager of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at the AICTE Innovation Center in Hyderabad, were part of the meeting. They discussed ways to get colleges in Telangana registered on the national portal for innovation-related fellowships and programs.
Dr. Yogesh explained the different fellowships and scholarships available for both students and teachers. He said the Ministry of Education has set up an Innovation Cell to encourage innovative thinking and entrepreneurship in colleges across India. This cell is part of a larger effort to make India a leader in education-based innovation and start-up development.
The AICTE Innovation Center is also working on this goal. It focuses on research and development based on Indian Knowledge Systems and aims to support projects that connect education with real-world needs. These centers help students and teachers turn their ideas into businesses or useful technologies.
Officials said the AICTE Innovation Center helps in many ways. It offers mentoring for start-ups, connects students with investors, provides funding for new ideas, and offers help with patents and licensing. They also work to connect colleges with industries, so students can get real-world experience and skills that are in demand.
The meeting also highlighted areas where the AICTE and Telangana can work together. These include supporting student start-ups, building stronger ties between colleges and industries, and offering training on how to protect and commercialize new ideas through Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
Overall, the partnership between AICTE and the Telangana State Council of Higher Education could lead to more innovation, better education quality, and increased opportunities for students and faculty in the state.
