Akasa places an order for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

Hyderabad: The Wings India 2024 event started in Hyderabad on Thursday. Akasa Air, a new player in the Indian civil aviation industry, made a major announcement during the event. They confirmed an order of 150 Boeing 737 Max jets to expand their operations both domestically and internationally.

This is a significant achievement for Akasa Air as they have placed an order for 200 aircraft within just 17 months of starting their operations. Since their launch in August 2022, the airline has grown its fleet by nearly three times with the addition of 737-10 and 737-8-200 aircraft. They currently serve 18 destinations with 22 jets, capturing four percent of the domestic market.

Vinay Dube, the founder and CEO of Akasa Air, expressed excitement about the historic order of 150 new Boeing airplanes. This brings their total orders from Boeing to 226 jets. The 737 MAX family of aircraft has lower carbon emissions, which aligns with the airline’s focus on sustainable operations and providing a comfortable experience for passengers.

Both variants of the 737 MAX will increase the airlines’ capacity while reducing fuel use and carbon emissions by 20 percent compared to older-generation airplanes.
