Citizens in Hyderabad can vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections even without a voter ID card. The Election Commission of India has approved 13 alternative documents that can be used for verification at polling centers, according to Hyderabad District Election Officer Ronald Rose.
Ronald Rose emphasized the need for voters to show their voter ID cards or one of the 13 alternative photo identification cards to verify their identity before casting their vote. Voter slips distributed at polling centers will not be sufficient for verification.
The 13 alternative documents include Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Pass book with photo from post office or bank, Health Insurance card, Smart Card from Ministry of Labour, Driving license, PAN card, Smart card from RGI, Indian Passport, Pension sanction document with photo, Employment Identity Card from Central/State Government/PSUs/Public Limited Companies with photo, Certificate of authority from MLA, MP, MLC, and Disability Identity Card.
Voters are urged to bring their identity cards and participate in the parliamentary elections as per the request of the District Election Officer.
