Amjedullah Khan, spokesperson for the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), has announced his decision to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections against All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Madhavi Latha for the Hyderabad parliamentary seat.

Speculations had been rife earlier that Amjedullah Khan would form an alliance with the Congress party. However, he has now opted to contest independently.

In the recent assembly elections, Amjedullah Khan put up a strong fight for the Yakutpura seat but was narrowly defeated by AIMIM MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj, with a margin of just 878 votes.
