The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted the public about significant weather changes. A surface depression in the northeast Bay of Bengal has grown, now reaching a height of 5.8 km above sea level. Meanwhile, another depression near the north Odisha coast and northwestern Bay of Bengal stands at 1.5 km above sea level. A low-pressure area is expected to develop in the Bay of Bengal within 24 hours.
The Telugu states should prepare for heavy to very heavy rain over the next two days. Winds along the coast may reach speeds of 40 to 60 km/h. Fishermen should avoid sea activities until Friday, and those in low-lying areas should stay alert.
An orange alert is in place for Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, and Alluri Seetharamaraju districts. Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, and Alluri districts are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain today. Local authorities have been informed. Residents should avoid staying near old buildings and signs under trees.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has also issued a warning. Telangana could see heavy to very heavy rain over the next four days, leading to an orange alert for specific districts.
