Hanumakonda: Konda Surekha, the Minister for Forest, Environment, and Endowments, praised the Tourism department for organizing the Bathukamma festival in Warangal for the first time. She noted the area’s historical significance, home to legendary women like Queen Rudrama Devi and Sammakka-Saralamma.
Surekha, along with her colleagues Jupally Krishna Rao, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), Tourism corporation MD Valluri Kranti, director of culture Mamidi Harikrishna, and festival organizer Dilli Shwari, unveiled the Bathukamma poster in Hyderabad on Monday.
She stated the government’s intention to promote Telangana’s culture globally. Bathukamma, a unique flower festival, symbolizes Telangana’s self-respect and unity among women, families, and communities. The celebrations connect people with nature and the environment.
Surekha assured that this festival would leave a lasting impression on Telangana citizens, similar to the lingering scent of flowers. She described Bathukamma as a nine-day celebration starting with Engili puvvu, where each day new flowers are added to the floral arrangement.
Bathukamma is a time for joy, where people come together, sing, dance, and play with enthusiasm, forgetting their worries. Surekha commended the Tourism department for their efforts in organizing this event.
