Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, has once again pushed for key development projects in Karimnagar, Telangana. On Wednesday, he met with Union Labour and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi to present three major requests for the district.
He urged the government to set up an ESI (Employees' State Insurance) Hospital in Karimnagar. He also asked for ₹10 crore to build a synthetic athletic track at Ambedkar Stadium. His third request was for financial support to construct a multipurpose sports hall at Satavahana University under the Khelo India program.
This is not Bandi Sanjay’s first time raising these issues. He has repeatedly highlighted the need for an ESI hospital in the area. He pointed out that Karimnagar is becoming a major healthcare hub for people from northern Telangana. The region has many beedi workers, weavers, and other laborers who lack access to proper medical care. A dedicated ESI hospital would directly benefit these workers and their families.
He also stressed the importance of upgrading Ambedkar Stadium. Thousands of locals use the stadium every day for sports and fitness, and a new synthetic track would provide much-needed support for growing athletic activity in the region.
Regarding the multipurpose sports hall, Bandi Sanjay said officials had already submitted a proposal worth ₹16 crore for approval under the Khelo India scheme. He noted that the Sports Authority of India (SAI) had recently visited Satavahana University and submitted a feasibility report to the central government.
Responding to the proposals, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya offered reassurance. He confirmed that the ESI Hospital plan has already been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for the final green light. He promised that once clearance comes through, work on the hospital would begin.
He also directed officials to quickly review the proposals for the track and the sports hall, and to take steps toward approval. The minister assured Bandi Sanjay that the government would take a positive decision soon.
