Hyderabad — Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has asked the central government to provide more solar pump sets to Telangana, which is making strong progress in renewable energy.
On Tuesday, Bhatti met with Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi in New Delhi. During their meeting, he submitted three key proposals to support the state’s clean energy goals.
He first urged the ministry to approve 4,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power plants under PM-KUSUM Component-A. These plants would each have a capacity between 500 kilowatts (KW) and 2 MW, and are intended to boost Telangana’s solar power infrastructure.
To ensure farmers have a reliable water supply, Bhatti also asked for 1 lakh solar pump sets under PM-KUSUM Component-B. These solar pumps would provide an eco-friendly solution for irrigation across the state.
In addition, he requested 2 lakh solar pump sets under Component-C of the same scheme. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this component has already been submitted to the central government through TSREDCO, the state’s renewable energy development corporation.
Bhatti emphasized that these solar initiatives are crucial for strengthening Telangana’s agricultural sector and reducing dependency on conventional energy sources.
