CM Revanth Reddy in a meeting with Pargi MLA Ram Mohan Reddy ordered to complete the work of this highway within a year.
Hyderabad, November 21, 2025 – Work on the long-awaited four-lane expansion of NH-163 from Appa Junction to Manneguda (Bijapur Highway) has resumed in full swing, with road widening operations now underway around the iconic Banyan trees along the route.
The crucial stretch from Appa Junction (currently TSPA) to Manneguda has seen renewed activity after months of delays, with construction teams mobilized across multiple sections following nationwide criticism of the stalled project.
Work Progress Across Key Sections
Land leveling and cutting work on both the Moinabad and Chevella bypasses was completed months ago. Now, active construction has begun near Mudimyal Forest Reserve and the Mirjaguda area, where a fatal accident between a truck and an RTC bus occurred just days ago.

The resumption of work comes after sustained pressure from commuters, local residents, and safety advocates who have repeatedly highlighted the dangerous conditions on this heavily trafficked corridor connecting Hyderabad to interior districts.
Fresh Tragedy at Moinabad
The urgency of the project was underscored by yet another fatal accident today at Moinabad Taj Circle, claiming lives and adding to the mounting toll on this hazardous stretch. The incident has intensified calls for the expedited completion of the highway expansion.
The Bijapur Highway has witnessed numerous accidents in recent months, with the narrow two-lane sections, heavy traffic, sharp curves, and inadequate safety measures creating a deadly combination for daily commuters.
Nationwide Criticism Spurs Action
Work on the four-lane expansion had been halted for an extended period due to the NGT Stay, drawing sharp criticism from across the country. Media reports, public outcry, and advocacy by local representatives finally compelled authorities to restart operations.
The delay had left thousands of daily commuters at risk, with the existing two-lane road struggling to handle the growing traffic volume from Hyderabad to Bijapur, Vikarabad, and beyond.
Temporary safety measures such as improved signage, speed restrictions, better lighting, and increased traffic management are essential until the four-lane expansion is completed.
