Four acres of park and public amenity land fenced after decades-long encroachment; High Court directives implemented
Hyderabad, November 21, 2025 – HYDRA has put a check on the activities of land sharks in Kondapur, Serilingampally Mandal, Rangareddy District, protecting government land worth approximately Rs.700 crore.
HYDRA prevented attempts to illegally convert land designated for parks and public amenities through fraudulent transactions. The authority protected approximately four acres of land meant for parks and public facilities by erecting fencing around the area and installing HYDRA boards declaring them as park sites.
In this area, land prices reach up to Rs.200 crore per acre. The estimated value of the protected land is approximately Rs.700 crore.
Background of the Colony
The Sri Venkateswara HAL Colony was established in Kondapur village during the 1980s with 627 plots spread over 57.20 acres. The layout allocated two parks of 1.20 acres each, another park of 2 acres, and 1,000 square yards for public amenities.
However, these designated spaces gradually fell victim to encroachment. Parks were converted into plots through fraudulent bay numbers and sold illegally.
Decades-Long Struggle
Representatives of the Sri Venkateswara HAL Residents Welfare Association, who have been fighting this issue for decades, approached HYDRA with their complaint. They filed a detailed complaint in HYDRA’s Prajavani with relevant documents.
HYDRA Investigation
HYDRA officials conducted a field-level investigation following the Prajavani complaint. Field inspections confirmed that parks had been converted into plots.
