Hyderabad: The BJP in Telangana criticized the Congress-led state government for not fulfilling its promises, calling it a “Name’s Change Sarkar.”

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, stated that the Telangana Congress promised change but only delivered name changes in 18 months. He highlighted how various projects and schemes, including the Rs 5 meal scheme, have been renamed from Annapurna to Indira Gandhi. He remarked that this focus on renaming is an insult to Hindu beliefs rather than actual governance.

    M. Raghunandan Rao, MP from Medak, accused the Congress government of lacking the courage to assess its performance, instead opting to distract citizens with constant renaming. He urged the GHMC Mayor to prioritize civic issues like water supply, drainage, illegal constructions, and the issuance of ration cards and pensions.

Promises made by the Congress, such as providing scooties for women and financial assistance, remain unfulfilled. The unemployed have not received the promised Rs. 4,000. Residents are concerned about the lack of streetlights and stray dog attacks, while sewage issues persist in several colonies. The GHMC Mayor has been urged to address these pressing issues.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was advised to stop the name-changing trend and focus on delivering on electoral promises. N.V. Subhash, BJP Telangana Chief Spokesperson, criticized the renaming of Annapurna Canteens as Indira Canteens. He called it politically motivated and insensitive to Hindu sentiments.

Subhash emphasized that Annapurna represents more than a name; it symbolizes the divine mother who nourishes the world. He argued that using public funds for political glorification reflects entitlement and autocracy, as GHMC is not a private entity of the Congress.
