Hyderabad: State BJP chief N Ramachander Rao was arrested by police in Moinabad during his visit to Chevella on Friday. BJP leaders criticized the state government for this action, claiming it aims to hide its shortcomings through unlawful arrests.

Several senior BJP figures, including Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, spoke out against what they called “illegal and undemocratic” arrests by the Congress-led state government. These arrests occurred during the BJP’s peaceful protest, “SAVE Hyderabad,” held at the Secretariat.

G. Kishan Reddy accused the Congress government of using the police to hinder democratic protests. He argued that instead of addressing real issues like poor drainage, damaged roads, unreliable electricity, and traffic problems, the government is silencing critics. “This isn’t governance; it’s suppression,” he remarked.

Reddy emphasized the worsening civic conditions in Hyderabad, citing issues in Ramanthapur and the Old City as results of administrative neglect. He noted, “Even a light rain paralyzes the city. GHMC has failed in areas like street lighting and controlling stray dogs. The city remains in darkness, both literally and figuratively.”

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar also condemned the arrests, labeling them as “tyrannical.” He warned that the public would not accept such actions. “Forcing BJP workers into vans and arresting Ramchander Rao on his way to Chevella is disgraceful,” he stated.

Kumar called for the immediate release of all arrested BJP members, arguing that the Congress government is following the same arrest tactics as the previous BRS regime to cover its failures. “If this continues, Congress will face severe consequences. The BJP won’t be silenced; our fight for public welfare will persist,” he declared.

Dr. Mekala Shilpa Reddy, President of BJP Mahila Morcha State, affirmed that the party would continue its efforts despite arrests and detentions. “We are committed to revealing the truth and supporting the people of Hyderabad. The Congress government might try to intimidate us, but it cannot silence public concerns,” she emphasized.
