Hyderabad: The EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) recently made significant progress in combating interstate drug trafficking. They captured four individuals involved in transporting illegal drugs to Pune, Maharashtra. Police confiscated 91 kg of ganja, valued at Rs 22,75,000.
The arrested individuals are Prakash Chandra Pradhan (47), Basanta Badatya (20), Ghanshyam Badatya (33), and Chitrasena Jani (19), all hailing from Ganjam District, Odisha.
These people were moving large amounts of ganja from Odisha to Pune by train. According to EAGLE, they were part of a larger interstate drug network. They obtained ganja from a primary supplier named Prashanth in Odisha. They transported drugs in batches of 15 to 20 kg, hidden in trolleys and backpacks, while traveling in AC train coaches from Bhubaneswar to Pune. In Pune, they handed over the drugs to two receivers, Sai Ram and Mommy.
For each delivery, the group earned Rs 10,000, and they had recently invested the same amount to buy ganja from their supplier, sharing in the illegal profits. Over the past year, they have transported drugs more than 20 times. A legal case has been filed under various sections of the NDPS Act. The investigation continues, focusing on capturing Prashanth and dismantling the drug network.
The EAGLE force urges young people and students to avoid drugs and advises parents to monitor their children’s activities. They encourage reporting suspicious activities to the police via Toll-Free number 1908, WhatsApp 87126 71111, or email tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in to help create a drug-free Telangana.
