Hyderabad: Rani Rudrama, a spokesperson for the BJP in Telangana, criticized the BRS for its ten-year rule, saying the Congress party now in power is doing the same by weakening government departments. On Wednesday, she addressed the media, highlighting that even though the Congress introduced the Right to Information (RTI) Act, it hasn’t enforced these laws in Telangana. She urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to address this issue.
Rudrama explained that on January 31, they submitted 27 questions through their RTI consultant, Ganji Srinivasa Rao, to the Office of the Special Chief Secretary of the Finance Department. These questions, sent under the RTI Act, were directed to the Public Information Officer. The RTI application was submitted by March 31, but they waited a month without any reply.
On March 12, they filed the first appeal. After this, they sent the 27 questions again, seeking more information under the RTI Act. Even after 45 days, there was no response, showing that the RTI system is ineffective in Telangana, with 16,000 requests pending. Rudrama questioned that if the national ruling BJP couldn’t get answers, what hope does an average citizen have?
The Chief Minister, Finance Minister, and other leaders are spreading misinformation by unfairly blaming the Centre. The BRS party had taken loans, and now the new Congress government is also borrowing more. Rudrama stated that they asked about these loans in their 27 questions but have yet to receive any information.
