Hyderabad: The BJP in Telangana has called for quick action to identify and deport Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in Hyderabad. This demand comes in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, BJP State Vice-President and former MLA Dr. NVSS Prabhakar urged the State government to give police full authority to remove foreign nationals who have overstayed their visas. He also asked for action against Bangladeshi citizens who have allegedly entered the country illegally and are living in the Old City area.
Dr. Prabhakar claimed that political parties like AIMIM, which previously supported the BRS and now back the Congress party, are making it difficult for police to take strict action. He said this political support is weakening law enforcement efforts to conduct raids and arrest illegal foreign residents.
The BJP leader also pointed out that central agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) have warned about the presence of sleeper cells in Hyderabad. He demanded that the government take immediate steps to find and remove these sleeper cells, especially in the Old City.
He stated that the recent terror attack in Pahalgam shows that political alliances formed for personal gain should not come at the cost of public safety. He emphasized that the country must take strong action against those who support or promote terrorism.
“The Pahalgam attack has shocked the entire nation,” he said. “The central government has already announced strict measures, and the people believe that those involved in supporting terrorism—whether they are individuals, organizations, or neighboring countries—will be held accountable.”
