Hyderabad: Early on Saturday, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport officials received a threatening email. It warned of a “human bomb” on an IndiGo flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad. Consequently, the plane was redirected to Mumbai, where it landed safely, according to police.
The email, received around 5:30 am, advised against allowing the IndiGo flight to land in Hyderabad. It mentioned a planned explosion similar to the 1984 Madras Airport incident, involving LTTE-ISI operatives.
All relevant parties were informed, leading to the plane’s diversion to Mumbai. Upon arrival, thorough security checks took place, and no threats were discovered.
Following the complaint, police registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the security threat for flight 6E 68 on November 1. The airline promptly notified authorities and assisted with the necessary security procedures, ensuring the aircraft’s safety before it resumed operations.
To minimize passenger inconvenience, IndiGo provided refreshments and regular updates during the delay.
