    Hyderabad: On Tuesday, Osmania University welcomed Gareth Wynn Owen, the British Deputy High Commissioner to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with Piyush Awasthi, Senior Trade Advisor for Technology & Education. Their visit aimed to discuss potential academic and research partnerships between Osmania University and top institutions in the United Kingdom.

    Prof Kumar Molugaram greeted the visitors, highlighting the university’s dedication to international growth. He emphasized the importance of global connections, saying that working with UK universities could bring best practices, joint research efforts, and international opportunities for faculty, students, and researchers.

    Gareth Wynn Owen praised Osmania University’s strong academic history and future goals. He expressed excitement about collaborating with the university, noting the UK’s interest in supporting education partnerships, particularly in fields like artificial intelligence, life sciences, and sustainability. He saw this meeting as the start of a fruitful relationship.

    Both parties discussed specific ways to start these partnerships, such as creating MoUs for student and faculty exchanges, participating in UK-India education initiatives, and pursuing joint research in new fields. They identified certain departments as initial candidates for these academic collaborations.
