Hyderabad: On Sunday, BRS leaders expressed concerns about potential internal security and law and order issues in the state due to government leaks. They urged the SIT officials or the commissioner to hold a press conference and reveal details about the phone tapping case, instead of leaking information.
In various press briefings, BRS leaders criticized the government for leaking details to the media regarding the phone tapping case. They questioned if the investigation was being handled by SIT officials or Congress leaders at Gandhi Bhavan.
RS Praveen Kumar, a party leader, accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his team from Gandhi Bhavan of media leaks. He stressed that phone tapping is a police matter, unrelated to politics.
The BRS leader questioned why the DGP of Intelligence and the Principal Secretary of the Home Department were not being scrutinized. He asked why only Prabhakar Rao was under fire, suggesting it might be due to his sacrifices and achievements. He also criticized the IPS Officers Association for not addressing these issues. Praveen Kumar recalled past incidents in Punjab where harassed IPS officers committed suicide and warned against similar occurrences in Telangana. He noted that phone tapping is common across states for defense and internal security.
Former MLC Karne Prabhakar highlighted the peaceful nature of the Telangana movement and the state’s successful separation. He mentioned that KTR, the party’s working president, has global supporters who would react if negative propaganda is spread against him. He accused Chandrababu Naidu’s disciple Revanth Reddy of plotting conspiracies.
Prabhakar further accused a media channel owner of scheming against Telangana and trying to shift investments to Andhra. He questioned how a news channel could handle SIT operations. He alleged that PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders attending a round table by the channel were endorsing broadcasts against KTR. Ch Kranti Kiran, P Ravi Goud, and others also spoke at the press conference.
