Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Traffic Police have announced new traffic plans for the Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam festival from June 30 to July 2. A large crowd is expected for the Kalyanotsavam on July 1 and the Rathotsavam on July 2.
Traffic congestion is likely around the Yellamma Temple in Balkampet due to the influx of devotees. The police suggest commuters use alternate routes to avoid the temple area.
Traffic will be redirected on July 1 and 2. Vehicles from Green Lands, Matha Temple, and Satyam Theatre heading to Fateh Nagar will be rerouted at the SR Nagar ‘T’ Junction. They will follow a path through the SR Nagar Community Hall, Abhilasha Towers, and B.K Guda X Road to reach Sriram Nagar X Road and continue towards Sanath Nagar or Fateh Nagar Road.
Traffic from the Fateh Nagar flyover towards Balkampet will be diverted at the New Bridge towards Katta Maisamma Temple and Begumpet. Similarly, vehicles from Green Lands, Bakul Apartments, and Food World will be redirected at the Food World X roads towards Sonabai Temple, Satyam Theater, and Maitrivanam or SR Nagar ‘T’ Junction.
Motorists from Begumpet and Kattamaisamma Temple will be detoured towards Green Lands, Matha Temple, Satyam Theater, and SR Nagar ‘T’ Junction before reaching the SR Nagar Community Hall. Additionally, all by-lanes and link roads from the SR Nagar ‘T’ Junction to Fateh Nagar will be closed.
Festival attendees should park in designated areas such as the R & B Office, GHMC ground, roadside near Nature Cure Hospital on Padma Shree Road, under the Fateh Nagar Railway bridge, and at Nature Cure Hospital.
The police urge all commuters to cooperate and choose alternative routes. For urgent travel help and real-time traffic updates, contact the traffic helpline at 9010203626 or follow the Hyderabad Traffic Police on social media at facebook.com/HYDTP and @HYDP on Twitter.
