In Jogulamba Gadwal, Telangana, police stopped an illegal buffalo calf sacrifice in Undavelly village early on June 4. The operation began around 1:00 am after PETA India alerted authorities.
Police from the Undavelly Police Station acted quickly on PETA India’s information, preventing the ritual just in time. This rescue was a joint effort involving local police and animal welfare advocates. Latha Nimma, who founded Mettu Animal Samrakshan in Hyderabad, initially informed PETA about the situation.
After the intervention, the calf received temporary care and was later moved to Kalote Animal Trust, an animal sanctuary in Raigad, Maharashtra. PETA India organized the transfer, ensuring the calf gets medical attention and a safe home for recovery, with help from local officials.
