Hyderabad turned pink on Monday night as part of the 2025 ‘Paint The City Pink’ campaign. This annual event, organized by the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, is now in its 17th year. It highlights the city’s commitment to raising breast cancer awareness globally.
Hyderabad is unique in being the only city where numerous landmarks are illuminated in pink on the same night every year since 2009. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, this tradition persisted, emphasizing the importance of the cause. The Charminar, a symbol of the city’s heritage, glowed pink, attracting lively crowds to the bustling bazaars.
The historic monument and its surrounding areas blended cultural pride with health awareness. Across Hussain Sagar, the Buddha statue radiated the same pink hue, spreading hope across the water. Floating installations with diya-shaped lights enhanced the evening’s celebratory feel, merging tradition with social consciousness.
Key government buildings, heritage sites, hospitals, shopping malls, and corporate offices also participated, creating a striking visual impact throughout the city.
