Hyderabad: On Tuesday, Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narsimha instructed top health officials to upgrade the Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal TIMS hospitals to match corporate hospital standards.
The Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and patient care, similar to private hospitals like AIIMS and NIMS. He proposed that TIMS should have an independent governance system like NIMS. During a meeting with officials, the Minister discussed plans as the Sanathnagar TIMS is set to open soon.
Officials had previously reviewed the operations at AIIMS, NIMS, and corporate hospitals and prepared a detailed report. They presented this information to the Minister, explaining how clinical and non-clinical departments function, the number of doctors and staff, and the expenses involved. The Minister highlighted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s vision to create hospitals that rival corporate facilities and surpass NIMS.
He stated that hospitals should be well-equipped, and the government is prepared to fund necessary enhancements. He suggested separating clinical services, administrative services, and academic departments, similar to corporate hospitals. The Minister called for roles such as medical director, medical superintendent, and chief operating officer, akin to NIMS, and insisted on clear job responsibilities for each department.
He recalled a time when even wealthy individuals and prominent leaders sought treatment at Gandhi and Osmania hospitals and expressed a desire to elevate TIMS to that level of excellence.
